  1. If only a booksigning could tell the whole story? Isn’t it wonderful to know that while Craig is there he can connect with so many people to share his journey, and not only in writing but in life? Isn’t it grand that he might can mention about our writing critique group, “Wordsmith Six” and our blog. He just might tell about the talks he has given for the Frontier in Writing Conferences, and his time as president of Panhandle Professional Writers, one of the oldest continuous writing groups in the United States, soon to be under the wings of Texas Plains Trails with Barbara Brannon.
Who knows who he might meet and/or what they might share. This is what writers do where ever they may go, what ever their travels. And guess what? Craig just might use each encounter as a character in HIS story, in HIS book, in HIS journal for someone, someday to read. After all Jodi Thomas just posted on facebook that she was having so much trouble with a character that she decided to go ahead and just shoot him, (the troubling character).
I wonder what Craig will choose to do with all the information he gleans from all his booksignings? What tale can he weave? He just might share it with our critique group. HE is a great writer!!!
And just one more word, I wonder how many characters Natalie Bright has created from all her book signings she has organized or ask to attend? She always tells me who she meets or sits next to or shares writing tips with. She has had several booksignings with her own story in “Chicken Soup for the Soul of the Mother’s of Preschoolers”. (Think Mother’s Day & Walmarts) This “Chicken Soup” story has made such an impression on me that every time I see a package of Goldfish crackers I think of not only what she has done as a writer, a businesswoman, a school volunteer, a museum volunteer, a friend, a fellow blogger, but I also think of her as a mother and mostly…I just think of her!!
Good luck Craig, we will all be here when you get back home just waiting for the next story. And thanks “Chicken Soup” and Jack Cansfield & Mark Victor Hansen for every thing you have done! Oh and I can’t forget Patricia Lornez, what a great lady! She was the keynote speaker for our Frontiers in Writing Conference in 2003 and inspired me in so many ways. I think Barbara Propst, a fellow writer and blogger, was the president of Panhandle Professional Writers and conference chair for the Frontiers in Writing at that time. Wow, I can’t tell you all the things that Barbara has done on behalf of writing in our entire community! Barbara was the one who wrote to Laura Bush telling her about the Youth Writers Contest she was organizing. Laura sent back the nicest letter of encouragement and inspiration to add to the support for this cause. We have had kids from all the schools in the panhandle, Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex as well as all over the world participate. Barbara was also the one who did all the work for the spot on TV to promote the FIW Conference where Natalie Bright was the conference chair. Barbara used her skills and contacts in the entire media for this short spot which is such a treasure.
And then there is Nancy “Dee” Keel, a fellow blogger, writer, friend, conference speaker, and holder of so many conference chair positions in FIW & PPW. She also organizes the judges for the conference contests. What a jewel! Oh my gosh, what about DeWanna Pace, extraordinaire that along with Jodi Thomas has meant the world to me, more than they can ever know.
I could go on and on but I will stop there. I merely wanted to wish Craig good luck on his journey. I can’t help if I keep “chasing rabbits”. This is the writer that I am.
And one other thing. In our Wordsmith Six writing critique group we have one other writer. He is a secret weapon in writing. You will be hearing more from him in the future. His book signings will be legendary and world wide. I kid you not.
